Located in downtown Vancouver, Century Plaza and Spa is currently looking for a housekeeping supervisor to join our team.

Full time job: 30 - 40 hours per week

Salary:  $21.25 per hour 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Assign workers their duties and inspect work for conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness.

  • Supervise the work to be performed by the housekeeping crew

  • Investigate complaints regarding housekeeping service and equipment and take corrective action.

  • Obtain list of rooms to be cleaned immediately and list of prospective check-outs or discharges to prepare work assignments.

  • Coordinate work activities among departments

  • Make recommendations to improve service and ensure efficient operation.

  • Perform cleaning duties in cases of emergency or staff shortage.

  • Attend staff meetings to discuss company policies and patrons' complaints.

  • Issue supplies and equipment to workers.

  • Establish standards and procedures for work of housekeeping staff.

  • Advise manager, desk clerk, or admitting personnel of rooms ready for occupancy

  • Assist in hiring and training of new housekeeping staff

Required Education & Experience:

  • Minimum 1-2 years of work experience as a Housekeeping Supervisor

  • Ability to supervise a team of 15-20 people is a must

  • Experience with using Opera system at least 1 year

  • Hands-on experience with cleaning and maintenance tasks for large organizations

  • Excellent organizational and team management skills

  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends

  • Completion of high school diploma is mandatory

  • College diploma would be an asset

  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training is an asset

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills;

  • Advanced English language knowledge

  • Punctual, reliable and have a good work ethic

  • Experience and education aligned to the position you are aiming to fill

  • Keen observation skills 

  • Orientation to detail and competence in verbal and written communication
