Head Chef

Kin Kao Thai Kitchen is a group of young entrepreneurs operating an intimate, modern Thai restaurant, and we are currently hiring a full-time, permanent Head chef. (We can consider Part-time as well as Full-time applicants).

Job Title: Chef
Terms of Employment: Full-time, permanent
Work location: 903 Commercial Drive, Vancouver, BC, V5L 3W8
Wage and benefit: C$36.60, based on 30-36 hrs/wk, 4% paid vacation.
Overtime: Overtime rate will be provided after 8 hrs/day, or 40 hrs/wk
Education: Completion of Secondary School
Experience: At least five years of work experience, along with the completion of a program in culinary arts or a related field.
Language: English
Job duties:
- Lead and oversee daily food preparation and cooking across one or more locations.

- Design creative menus that balance flavor, nutrition, and presentation standards.

- Plan food and staffing needs while keeping costs and resources under control.

- Guide and support sous-chefs, cooks, and the rest of the kitchen team in their work.

- Hire, train, and coach staff, sharing new techniques, recipes, and equipment use.

- Keep the kitchen running smoothly by managing supplies, equipment purchases, and timely repairs.

- Teach cooks proper methods for preparation, cooking, garnishing, and plating.

- Ensure hygiene, food safety, and sanitation standards are strictly followed at all times.
