Specialist Chef - Vegetarian Section

Job Title: Specialist Chef - Vegetarian Section (Full-time position, 1 vacancy)

Requirements (must provide reference attesting at least 3 years of experience in):

• Chef in a Chinese restaurant or central food commissaries; and
• Making Chinese vegetarian meals

Work Locations:

• Primary location – Peterborough at the temple kitchen we manage: (Wutai Shan Buddhist Garden - 708 Ski Hill Road, Bethany, ON L0A 1A0)
• Secondary location – Mississauga at our restaurant kitchen: 888 Dundas Street East, Unit C3-C4, Mississauga Ontario L4Y 4G6

Duties and Responsibilties:

• Provide guidance and oversee the activities of junior kitchen staff;

• Demonstrate techniques and equipment usage to kitchen staff, training them in preparing/specializing in special knowledge and techniques relevant to genuine high standard Chinese vegetarian banquet meals;
• Collaborate with the Head Chef by contributing to the creation and adaptation of Chinese vegetarian pastry recipes, enhancing the overall culinary offerings of the restaurant and catered meals, with a focus on developing Buddhist ceremonial vegetarian banquet meals

Term:   2-years (expect January 2024 – December 2025)

Remuneration:  $21.00 per hour / 35 hours per week
