Salary             

  • $25 to $32 / hour depending on experience

 

 

Work hours

 

  • 5-Day Work Week: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday, or;
  • 4-Day Work Week: 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Thursday

 

 

 

Essential functions:

 

  • Building and assembling architectural/structural glass and metal framing installation components
  • Drafting various field-related designs
  • Supervise and instruct the fabrication team as required
  • Report to, and assist project manager with planning work activities
  • Inventory management
  • Complete reports and other records including safety documentation and inventory logs
  • Minimize work-related accidents and injuries by inspecting work stations regularly, identify potential safety hazards and manage them accordingly and also educate workers on fabrication safety regulations and accident protocol
  • Populate timesheets and work schedules to maintain accurate records of shop employee attendance and work completion
  • Review plans/shop drawings  for understanding and accuracy
  • Increase shop efficiency by recommending and implementing changes to shop operations and procedures
  • Attend meetings when required

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Experience:

 

  • Working in a fabrication shop with metal and/or glass,  or in a relatable capacity
  • Building storefront, curtain-wall and cleanroom installation assemblies
  • Understanding and creating technical drawings in drafting programs/software like AutoCAD and BIM
  • Accurately using and reading measuring tools
  • Safe and efficient operation of hand and power tools, as well as construction tools and equipment
  • Understanding and applying basic math skills in a fabrication shop, or similar setting
  • Performing within the guidelines of building codes and construction safety regulations.

 

 

 

Skills and Certifications:

 

  • Valid CPR/First Aid training and relevant H&S training certifications
  • Extensive understanding of fabrication methods with glass and metal being the primary materials
  • Above-average interpersonal skills
  • Punctual and reliable
    • Leadership skills
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Calm disposition and the ability to remain composed in stressful situations
    • Ability to work well with your hands
    • IT Proficiency; able to operate computers and handheld devices, with a special emphasis on the ability to work within drafting software
    • Valid driver’s license or own transportation to/from work
    • Valid Glazier’s license an asset
    • Perform job duties independently or as part of a team
    • Highly motivated, self-starter
      • Outstanding attention to detail
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
