Working hours: 30-40 hours/week

Jiang Nan Restaurant is a Chinese restaurant in Halifax, NS. The restaurant serves authentic cuisine from the Southern part of China specializing in Szechuan, Hunan and Jiangxi cuisines. We pride ourselves in customer service while providing authentic Chinese food with a clean and warm environment.

Currently, we are looking for a full-time kitchen helper to join us. We expect the team member to be clean, hardworking, dedicated, and enjoys a fast-paced environment.

Primary duties:

∙ Prepare food, which includes but is not limited to preparing Chinese food portions, cleaning and organising ingredients as needed.

∙ Maintain kitchen work areas, restaurant equipment and utensils in clean and orderly condition.

∙ Stock food and beverage serving areas, unpack and store supplies in proper storage areas, and minimise leftovers and product waste.

∙ Sweep and mop floors, wash dishes and utensils and perform other duties to assist cook and kitchen staff.

∙ Organize kitchen supplies and maintain appliances. Unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, cupboards and other storage areas

∙ Examine the food quality, and the condition of the cooking equipment and devices.

∙ Wash work tables, cupboards, refrigerators, walls and meat blocks.

∙ Sort, recycle and dispose bottles food containers.

∙ Remove trash and clean kitchen garbage containers using various methods.

∙ Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.

∙ Load or unload food for delivery or pick up orders.

∙ Perform other duties to assist cook and other kitchen staffs to respond the restaurant environmental and physical demands.

Qualifications and skills:

∙ Completion of high school.

∙ Ability to work on weekdays and weekends (Morning or evenings).

∙ Related kitchen helper experience preferred.

∙ Must be able to participate in on-the-job training.
