Drywall Installer

Sukhjiwan Construction Ltd. is seeking two experienced and hardworking Drywall Installers to join its team in Surrey, BC. The successful candidates will be responsible for installing, finishing, and repairing drywall in commercial and residential construction projects.

Hours: 30–40 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and construction specifications.
Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets.
Position and secure drywall sheets to metal or wooden studs and joists.
Apply joint compound and sand seams and joints to achieve smooth finishes.
Tape drywall joints using taping machines and embed tape in compound.
Fill nail indentations, holes, cracks, and other imperfections with joint compound.
Clean and prepare surfaces before drywall installation.
Install metal corner beads and wire mesh around beams.
Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids.
Install panels for acoustical and coffered ceilings.
Erect and install scaffolding, falsework, and other working platforms.
Supervise and coordinate the work of 1–2 workers when required.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Employment Requirements
2–3 years of relevant drywall installation experience.
Other trades certificate or diploma, or equivalent experience.
Ability to communicate in English.
Fall Arrest Protection Training Course.
Knowledge of drywall installation, taping, mudding, and finishing.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment:

Commercial and residential construction sites.
Various project locations.
Work at heights.
Dusty and noisy working conditions.
Physically demanding construction environment.
Physical Requirements

Applicants must be comfortable with:

Bending, crouching, and kneeling.
Standing and walking for extended periods.
Repetitive tasks and hand-eye coordination.
Handling heavy loads up to 45 kg (100 lbs).
Working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
Required Safety Equipment

Workers must have their own:

Hard hat.
Protective mask.
Safety glasses or goggles.
Steel-toed safety boots.
