Truck driver

Safeway Freight Inc. is hiring 2 full-time, permanent Truck Drivers in Cheltenham, Ontario.

Salary: $38.00 per hour
Hours: 40–44 hours per week
Start date: As soon as possible

Responsibilities:

• Drive long-haul routes, including mountain routes, as part of a two-person team or convoy.

• Load and unload goods, tarp loads, and ensure cargo safety and security.

• Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip vehicle inspections.

• Inspect tires, lights, brakes, refrigerated storage, and other equipment.

• Perform brake adjustments, preventive maintenance, and emergency roadside repairs.

• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption.

• Receive and relay information to central dispatch.

• Arrange travel itineraries and reservations.

• Provide professional customer service and coach colleagues on work techniques.

Requirements:

• Secondary school graduation certificate.

• 1 year to less than 2 years of experience.

• AZ class licence.

• English language proficiency.

• Experience with tractor-trailer B trains and long-haul transportation.

• Availability for varying shifts, including early mornings, evenings, nights, and weekends.

• Willingness to travel frequently, as work locations vary.
