Position Summary

Don’t Cry Tattoo Co. is seeking an experienced Tattoo Artist Supervisor to join its growing professional tattoo studio in St. Albert, Alberta.

The successful candidate will work as a senior member of the tattoo team, combining professional tattoo services with the supervision, technical training, mentorship, and professional development of other tattoo artists.

The position is particularly suited to an experienced tattoo professional with advanced expertise in colour realism, full-colour tattooing, large-scale compositions, and complex cover-up work who is also capable of supervising and developing other professional tattoo artists.

Duties:

  • Manage and coordinate daily tattoo studio operations.
  • Supervise, train, mentor and provide technical guidance to tattoo artists.
  • Review artists’ work and maintain high artistic, technical, hygiene and client-service standards.
  • Develop and provide training, workshops and demonstrations in advanced tattoo techniques.
  • Assist artists with technically challenging projects, including colour realism, large-scale tattoos, cover-ups and corrections.
  • Establish and implement studio procedures and professional standards.
  • Support the onboarding and professional development of new tattoo artists.
  • Monitor tattoo supplies, equipment and operational requirements.
  • Address operational and client-service issues as required.
  • Perform advanced custom tattoo services, including colour realism, full-colour work, large-scale projects and complex cover-ups.
  • Conduct consultations and develop custom designs for technically complex tattoo projects.
  • Maintain current knowledge of tattoo techniques, equipment, pigments, sanitation and industry standards.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of professional tattooing experience.
  • Advanced experience in colour realism, full-colour tattooing, large-scale work and complex cover-ups.
  • Experience supervising, training or mentoring tattoo artists.
  • Experience providing tattoo training, workshops, seminars or technical demonstrations.
  • Strong professional tattoo portfolio.
  • Strong knowledge of tattoo techniques, colour theory, sanitation and infection-prevention procedures.
  • Strong leadership, communication and client-service skills.

Assets:

  • Participation in national or international tattoo conventions.
  • Professional tattoo-industry awards or competition recognition.
  • Professional features or publications in tattoo-industry media.
  • Experience teaching or presenting at tattoo-industry seminars, courses, or conventions.
  • Experience working with artists or studios in different international markets.
