Job description

Stony Ridge Medical Centre is seeking a skilled and compassionate Family Physician to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive, continuous, patient-centred primary care to patients of all ages, including preventive care, acute care and chronic disease management.

Job duties

• Examine patients and obtain relevant medical histories.

• Assess patients’ physical and mental health.

• Diagnose and treat illnesses, injuries and chronic medical conditions.

• Order and interpret laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging and other investigations.

• Prescribe and administer medications and appropriate treatments.

• Develop individualized treatment and follow-up plans.

• Provide preventive care, health screening, immunizations and patient counselling.

• Coordinate and manage ongoing primary care.

• Refer patients to specialists and other healthcare professionals when appropriate.

• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and other members of the healthcare team.

• Maintain accurate and confidential electronic medical records in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.

• Participate in clinic quality-improvement and patient-care initiatives.

Job requirements

Education

• Degree in medicine from a recognized institution.

Licensing and certification

• Must hold or be eligible to obtain registration and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

• Applicants who are internationally trained may apply if they are eligible to pursue medical licensure in Alberta.

Experience

• Previous family medicine or general practice experience is an asset.

• No specific minimum number of years of experience is required.
