Position: Financial Accountant - NOC 11100
Location: Toronto, ON - Hybrid
Wage: $43 - $48 per hour, 35 hours per week
Employment: Full-time permanent
Start date: As soon as possible
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and the ability to apply the concepts, theories, and terminology to complete daily tasks with accuracy.
- Related experience in accounting, financial reporting, financial analysis, or public accounting is preferred.
- Proficient in MS Excel (eg. Pivot tables, Power Pivot/Query, XLOOKUPs etc.), Google Docs and Data Extraction.
- Experience working with QuickBooksPro Online software or similar accounting software.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with various departments to reconcile financial information and prepare data required for financial statements and regulatory reporting.
- Perform accounting functions including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, cost centre allocations and general ledger maintenance.
- Utilize Power Pivot and Power Query to sort, calculate and allocate large data sets, streamlining internal reporting and improving process efficiency.
- Research and analyze accounting and regulatory issues and provide recommendations.
- Manage the accounts’ payable function, including reviewing supplier invoices, investigating discrepancies and coordinating payments.
- Prepare and file HST returns, EHT remittances and other required tax filings.
- Prepare working papers and general ledger reconciliations supporting month-end and year-end financial close.
- Liaise with internal departments, auditors, regulators and external service providers as required.
- Perform other accounting and financial reporting duties as assigned.
