Job Description:

Nomi Resort is seeking experienced and dedicated cooks to join our kitchen team. The successful candidates will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals, maintaining food safety standards, supporting daily kitchen operations, and ensuring consistent food quality and presentation. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to collaborate with kitchen staff to deliver excellent dining experiences for guests.

Job Duties

Food Preparation & Service

  • Prepare menu items according to established recipes, portion sizes, and plating standards
  • Execute service efficiently during peak periods while maintaining quality and consistency
  • Complete daily mise en place to ensure service readiness
  • Follow all menu specifications and presentation guidelines

Kitchen Operations

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation at all times
  • Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating inventory according to FIFO principles
  • Support prep, service, and closing duties as assigned
  • Communicate clearly with chefs and team members during service
  • Supervise kitchen staff and manage Standard Operating Procedures daily, including scheduling
  • Ensure Standard Operating procedures are met while managing the kitchen operations
  • Train staff on routine daily task requirements, SOPS and ongoing routine menu management

Food Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Maintain proper food handling, storage, and temperature controls
  • Complete required food safety and sanitation logs accurately
  • Follow WHMIS and workplace safety procedures at all times

Teamwork & Professional Conduct

  • Work cooperatively with kitchen and front-of-house team members
  • Take direction from Sous Chef and Executive Chef respectfully and professionally
  • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic
  • Maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in training and skill development as required
  • Accept feedback and demonstrate willingness to learn and improve
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, cleanliness, and excellence

Skills and Requirements

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • 2 to 3 years of professional cooking experience in a restaurant, hotel, motel, resort, or similar food service environment.
  • Experience preparing complete meals and individual dishes according to established recipes and standards.
  • Experience in fine dining food preparation.
  • Experience with Thai and international cuisine is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen operations, and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail while working under pressure.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple kitchen tasks.
  • Ability to supervise kitchen staff and support daily kitchen operations.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Languages

  • English (spoken and written proficiency required)

Terms of Employment

Full-time, permanent position.

  • 30 hours per week.
  • Morning, day, and evening shifts available.
  • Overtime may be required depending on operational needs.
  • On-site position.
