Job Description:

Dawson Diner at 1889 Dawson Rd, Thunder Bay, ON, P7G 2E6 is looking to hire a Cook to join their team as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu items, including eggs, omelettes, pancakes, burgers, sandwiches, soups, and traditional Canadian comfort meals, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.

  • Determine appropriate food portion sizes and assist in controlling food costs by minimizing waste and efficiently utilizing ingredients.

  • Prepare meals for customers with food allergies, dietary restrictions, and special requests while following established food safety and cross-contamination prevention procedures.

  • Inspect kitchen, food preparation, and storage areas to ensure compliance with public health, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.

  • Train and guide kitchen assistants and new staff on food preparation techniques, cooking procedures, safe food handling, and cleanliness standards.

  • Monitor inventory levels and order food supplies, ingredients, and kitchen equipment to maintain adequate stock for daily restaurant operations.

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen helpers to ensure efficient food preparation, timely service, and adherence to quality standards during busy meal periods.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen by cleaning workstations, kitchen equipment, cooking utensils, and food preparation areas throughout each shift.

  • Ensure all meals are prepared and presented according to Dawson Diner's recipes, quality standards, and customer expectations.

  • Follow all food safety, occupational health and safety, and sanitation regulations while maintaining a safe and efficient kitchen environment.
