About the Role

R & D Builders & Developers Ltd. is seeking a dependable and skilled Concrete Finisher to join our growing construction team. The successful candidate will perform concrete finishing work on residential and commercial construction projects while ensuring quality workmanship, productivity, and compliance with workplace safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Place, level, spread, and finish freshly poured concrete for residential and commercial foundations, slabs, sidewalks, driveways, curbs, and other concrete structures.
• Smooth and finish concrete surfaces using hand and power tools such as screeds, floats, trowels, and power finishing equipment.
• Check concrete forms, grades, elevations, and depths to ensure work is completed according to project specifications.
• Apply surface treatments and finishing techniques to achieve the required texture and appearance.
• Repair, resurface, and restore damaged concrete surfaces when required.
• Assist with concrete placement, forming, curing, and site preparation activities.
• Operate and maintain concrete finishing tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Read and interpret basic construction drawings, site layouts, and work instructions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while complying with company safety policies and occupational health and safety regulations.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors and other construction personnel to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.

Work Environment

• Outdoor work in various weather conditions.
• Physically demanding and fast-paced construction environment.
• Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and lifting.
• Overtime and weekend work may be required to meet project schedules.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
• 3 to 6 months of hands-on experience in concrete finishing or a closely related concrete construction role.
• Ability to safely operate concrete finishing tools and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills in English.
• Valid driver's licence is considered an asset.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
• Repetitive physical tasks including lifting, bending, kneeling, crouching, and standing for extended periods.
• Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly Wage: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour (depending on skills and experience)
• Overtime pay in accordance with provincial employment standards.
• Vacation pay.
