Job Description:
Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the overall operations of the berry farm.
Develop and implement crop production plans, including planting, irrigation, fertilization, pest management, harvesting, and post-harvest handling.
Establish farm production goals and monitor operations to ensure productivity, quality, and profitability.
Hire, supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate farm supervisors, equipment operators, and general farm workers.
Develop and implement farm operating policies and procedures to improve efficiency and maintain quality standards.
Prepare and manage farm budgets, production schedules, and operational plans.
Maintain records related to production, inventory, labour, equipment maintenance, crop yields, and financial performance.
Purchase farm supplies, equipment, fertilizers, chemicals, and other materials required for farm operations.
Coordinate the maintenance, repair, and replacement of farm machinery, vehicles, irrigation systems, and other equipment.
Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, environmental standards, food safety requirements, and company policies.
Monitor crop conditions and implement measures to maximize crop yield and maintain product quality.
Coordinate marketing and delivery schedules with buyers, processors, or distributors as required.
Analyze production reports and recommend improvements to increase operational efficiency and reduce costs.
Requirements:
Completion of Secondary School.
Post-secondary education in the field is strongly preferred.
Minimum one year experience as a farm supervisor is required.
Work conditions and physical capabilities:
Ability to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
Good communication and leadership skills.
Basic knowledge of farm machinery and equipment.
Ability to keep farm records and manage daily operations.
