We are seeking an experienced and dependable Truck Trailer Mechanic to join our growing team, where the role is essential to maintaining the safety, reliability, and performance of commercial trailers. The successful candidate will inspect, diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on truck trailers, including suspension systems, air brakes, axles, wheel-end components, and other mechanical and structural systems. Services are delivered at the Abbotsford facility, where customers visit the location to receive the required services. Position: Truck Trailer Mechanic

Compensation & Benefits

Job Responsibilities
• Inspect, repair, rebuild, and install suspension systems, including kingpins, leaf springs, coil springs, airbags, shackles, hangers, bushings, U-bolts, torque rods, shock absorbers, and related suspension components.
• Inspect, repair, straighten, reinforce, and align truck and trailer chassis, frames, cross-members, and structural components to manufacturer specifications.
• Diagnose, repair, and replace steering system components, including steering gears, drag links, tie rods, steering arms, ball joints, and related steering assemblies.
• Inspect, repair, overhaul, and replace drive axle assemblies, differentials, wheel hubs, bearings, seals, wheel-end components, and axle-related parts.
• Diagnose, repair, rebuild, balance, and install driveline systems, including driveshafts, universal joints, slip yokes, carrier bearings, and associated driveline components.
• Inspect, repair, service, and replace trailer components and accessories, including trailer axles, suspension assemblies, landing gear, fifth-wheel plates, couplers, pintle hitches, doors, lift gates, lighting systems, and cargo securement equipment.
• Repair, adjust, and replace fifth wheels, hitches, couplers, towing assemblies, and related trailer connection systems to ensure safe operation.
• Fabricate, install, repair, and replace hydraulic, pneumatic, and air system hoses, tubing, fittings, valves, and connectors used on commercial trucks and trailers.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance by servicing and replacing fuel, oil, hydraulic, transmission, and air filters, lubricating chassis components, and inspecting critical safety systems.
• Repair and replace bearings, seals, bushings, gaskets, and related components in suspension, axle, wheel-end, and driveline assemblies.
• Diagnose, repair, and maintain compressed air systems, including air compressors, air dryers, valves, tanks, air lines, and related pneumatic components.
• Inspect, adjust, repair, and replace air brake system components, including brake chambers, slack adjusters, brake shoes, drums, rotors, valves, airlines, and related braking equipment to meet commercial vehicle safety standards.
• Diagnose and repair truck and trailer electrical systems, including batteries, charging systems, starters, wiring harnesses, trailer electrical connections, and lighting systems.
• Inspect, repair, adjust, and replace manual clutch assemblies, pressure plates, release bearings, and related driveline components where required.
• Perform MIG welding, torch cutting, metal fabrication, and installation of custom brackets, spring perches, mounts, and structural components required for truck and trailer repairs and modifications.
• Perform wheel alignment, suspension alignment, and related adjustments to improve vehicle handling, tire wear, and operational safety.
• Conduct commercial vehicle inspections, preventive maintenance inspections, and road tests to identify defects, verify repairs, and ensure compliance with applicable safety requirements.
• Complete work orders, inspection reports, maintenance records, and repair documentation accurately in accordance with company procedures.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and safe conditions while complying with occupational health and safety policies and established shop procedures.
Qualification & Requirements
• Completion of secondary school.
• Relevant education in trade or more than 3 years of experience
• Experience in diagnosing and repairing commercial truck trailers and related systems is preferred.
• Ability to read service manuals, repair instructions, and technical specifications.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
