Job Description

Karten Metals is currently seeking an experienced and dependable Machine Operator to join our mineral and metal processing operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating, monitoring and adjusting production machinery used to grind, mix, filter and process mineral or metal materials.

The ideal candidate should have previous experience working in an industrial, manufacturing or mineral-processing environment and be comfortable performing physically demanding duties while following established safety and production procedures.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate and adjust machinery and equipment used to grind, crush, mix, filter, separate or otherwise process mineral and metal materials.
• Monitor equipment, gauges, control panels and production processes to ensure machinery is operating properly.
• Start up, shut down and make routine adjustments to processing equipment.
• Feed raw materials into processing machinery and maintain a consistent flow of materials.
• Inspect processed materials and finished products to ensure they meet required quality standards.
• Collect samples and conduct basic production or quality-control checks.
• Identify equipment malfunctions, production irregularities and safety concerns.
• Report mechanical problems and assist with routine troubleshooting and minor equipment adjustments.
• Clean machinery, equipment and surrounding production areas.
• Complete production records, equipment checklists and shift reports.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures, company policies and environmental requirements.
• Wear required personal protective equipment and maintain a safe and organized work area.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors, maintenance personnel and other production employees.

Employment Requirements

• Completion of secondary school is preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years to less than 3 years of related experience in mineral processing, metal processing, manufacturing, industrial production or machine operation is required.
• Experience operating industrial processing machinery is an asset.
• Ability to understand equipment controls, operating instructions and workplace safety procedures.
• Ability to identify basic mechanical or operational problems.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks and physically demanding work.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and handle heavy materials when required.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
• Dependable, safety-conscious and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to communicate in English.
