Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Inspect, clean, trim, and prepare beef, poultry, fish, and seafood products for cutting, processing, and retail sale while maintaining high quality and food safety standards.
  • Cut, trim, debone, portion, and prepare standard and custom cuts of meat according to customer specifications and company quality requirements.
  • Grind, season, shape, tie, and prepare meat products, including sausages, roasts, marinated meats, and other specialty items for retail display and customer orders.
  • Cut poultry into retail portions and prepare fish and seafood products by cleaning, filleting, skinning, deboning, and portioning as required.
  • Accurately weigh, label, price, wrap, and package meat, poultry, and seafood products in compliance with company policies and food safety regulations.
  • Prepare customized meat orders for customers, providing recommendations on product selection, portion sizes, preparation methods, and cooking techniques to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Arrange, replenish, and maintain attractive refrigerated displays of meat, poultry, fish, and seafood products while ensuring proper product rotation and freshness.
  • Monitor product quality, inspect inventory for freshness, remove unsuitable products, and maintain proper storage temperatures to comply with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Operate, clean, sanitize, and perform routine maintenance on meat processing equipment, including saws, grinders, slicers, knives, and wrapping machines, following workplace safety procedures.
  • Assist in inventory control by monitoring stock levels, receiving deliveries, minimizing product waste, and reporting shortages or ordering requirements to management.
  • Support and train junior meat cutters or department staff on safe meat handling, cutting techniques, sanitation procedures, customer service standards, and workplace health and safety practices, when required.
