Mississauga, Ontario and surrounding areas in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Project sites will vary across Mississauga, Brampton, and nearby municipalities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Set out and frame exterior and interior walls for residential home renovations and new garden suite builds, working from approved architectural drawings and structural plans
- Cut and install floor framing assemblies including beams, joist systems, bridging, and subfloor panels in preparation for subsequent finishing trades
- Construct roof structures from rafters or engineered trusses based on project-specific plans, ensuring proper load transfer and compliance with the Ontario Building Code
- Frame and size rough openings for windows, exterior doors, and interior passage doors, coordinating dimensions with the site supervisor and supplier specifications
- Erect load-bearing and partition wall assemblies using dimensional lumber and engineered wood products, installing headers, king studs, and cripples to specification
- Work closely with the project coordinator to sequence framing work around plumbing, electrical, and HVAC rough-in inspections so that deadlines are met without trade conflicts
- Take off lumber and hardware quantities from construction drawings and flag discrepancies or site conditions to the project lead before proceeding
- Maintain a clean, organized work site throughout all phases of framing; stack and store lumber correctly to prevent warping and reduce material waste
- Follow all applicable health and safety requirements under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, including fall protection, PPE use, and safe tool handling on all TF Renovations project sites
- Assist in training and directing general labourers and junior carpenters assigned to framing tasks on active projects
Education
- Completion of secondary school is preferred
- Completion of a carpenter apprenticeship program (Red Seal or Certificate of Qualification – Carpenter, Ontario) is an asset
Work Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience in residential framing carpentry
- Demonstrated experience framing wood-frame residential structures including walls, floors, and roofs
- Experience with garden suite, laneway housing, or accessory dwelling unit construction is a strong asset
- Knowledge of Ontario Building Code requirements applicable to residential wood frame construction
Other Requirements
- Valid Ontario driver's licence (G class) required
- Ability to work at various job sites across Mississauga and the GTA
- Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting, standing, bending, and working at heights
- Reliable and able to work independently with minimal supervision
