Position: Construction Project Manager

Location: Cornwall, Ontario

Employment Type: Full-time, Fix-Term Contract

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week

Salary: $40.00 per hour or more (depending on experience)

 

About the Employer

CG Group is a construction and property development company specializing in residential and commercial construction projects. We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to oversee a major construction project located in Downtown Cornwall, Ontario. The successful candidate will work closely with ownership, consultants, contractors and municipal authorities to ensure the successful completion of the project.

 

Job Summary

The Construction Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising all phases of construction projects from pre-construction through final completion. The successful candidate will ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget and according to all contractual, engineering and regulatory requirements.

The position reports directly to the owners and serves as the primary liaison between the owners, architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and municipal officials.

 

Main Duties

The successful candidate will:

  • Plan, organize and manage all phases of construction projects from inception through completion.
  • Develop detailed project schedules, work plans and project milestones.
  • Prepare project budgets and monitor expenditures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications and contract documents.
  • Coordinate architects, engineers, consultants and subcontractors.
  • Prepare and negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Obtain required permits and approvals from municipal authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with the Ontario Building Code and applicable regulations.
  • Monitor construction progress and implement corrective measures when necessary.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and company safety policies.
  • Prepare progress reports for ownership.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Review and approve contractor invoices and project change orders.
  • Resolve technical issues and construction disputes.
  • Manage procurement of construction materials and equipment.
  • Coordinate project close-out, deficiencies and final inspections.
  • Maintain project documentation and records.
  • Participate in owner meetings and provide regular project updates.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within approved budgets.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of proven experience as a Construction Project Manager with a strong background in medium to large-scale construction projects.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead teams effectively across diverse stakeholders.
  • Bilingual mandatory (French & English)
  • Owning a reliable car, valid driver license and insurance coverage are mandatory
  • Problem solving & critical thinking
  • Ability to walk construction sites and climb stairs.
