Job Summary
The Jewellery Sample Maker is responsible for producing prototype and sample jewellery pieces for new collections and custom orders. The successful candidate will manufacture, assemble, finish, and inspect jewellery samples while working closely with management to develop designs that meet customer expectations and company quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare prototype and sample jewellery pieces from sketches, CAD drawings, and customer specifications.
- Examine, cut, shape, polish, and finish precious, semi-precious, and synthetic gemstones.
- Set diamonds and other gemstones into jewellery mountings using appropriate stone-setting techniques.
- Assemble jewellery samples by soldering, filing, polishing, and finishing metal components.
- Modify and refine sample pieces to meet design specifications and customer requirements.
- Inspect completed samples to ensure accurate measurements, secure stone settings, quality finish, and workmanship.
- Perform final polishing and finishing before production approval.
- Operate and maintain jewellery-making tools, equipment, and polishing machines.
- Assist in developing new jewellery samples and custom designs for production.
- Maintain inventory of gemstones, precious metals, findings, and sample materials.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Work with management and production staff to ensure sample designs are suitable for manufacturing.

Education
- Secondary (high) school diploma
Experience
- 6 months to less than 1 year of experience in jewellery manufacturing, jewellery assembling, jewellery sample making, or a related occupation.
