Position Overview

JD Collins Fire Protection Company Inc. is seeking an experienced and motivated Intermediate Fire Alarm Technician with a valid CFAA License to join our growing team in the Greater Toronto Area. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting fire alarm inspections, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and compliance reporting for a variety of commercial, industrial, institutional, and multi-residential properties.

This position requires experience working with large fire alarm networks, detailed inspection reporting, and the flexibility to work evenings, nights, and weekends when required.


Required Qualifications

• Current CFAA (Canadian Fire Alarm Association) License in good standing.
• Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License with a clean driving record.
• Minimum 3–5 years of fire alarm inspection and testing experience.
• Strong knowledge of Ontario Fire Code, CAN/ULC standards, and industry best practices.
• Experience performing inspections on large networked fire alarm systems.
• Ability to identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
• Experience using Building Reports software for inspection reporting and compliance documentation.
• Strong computer and data entry skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Key Responsibilities

• Perform annual, monthly, and verification inspections of fire alarm systems.
• Test and inspect networked fire alarm systems in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
• Complete detailed inspection reports using Building Reports software.
• Accurately document deficiencies and compliance issues.
• Ensure all inspections meet regulatory and customer requirements.
• Coordinate with customers, property managers, and internal teams.
• Maintain inspection records and service documentation.
• Assist with troubleshooting and minor repairs when required.
• Follow company safety procedures and industry regulations.


Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift equipment and tools up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working on ladders and in mechanical/electrical rooms.
• Ability to travel throughout the GTA and surrounding areas.


Schedule Requirements

• Availability to work days, nights 8 – 12 weeks per calendar year, weekends, and occasional overtime as required by customer schedules and project demands.
