Burma Star Inc has immediate opening for 2 Specialist Chefs at our location in Mississauga , Ontario.
As a Specialist Chef, you will perform some or all of the following duties:
The Specialist Chef is responsible for preparing and executing authentic Indian cuisine while maintaining culinary standards, food quality, and consistency. This role requires strong expertise in Ethnic cooking techniques, ingredients, flavours, and presentation styles.
- Prepare and cook authentic Indian/Aisan dishes according to standardized recipes and presentation guidelines.
- Specialize in traditional Indian/Aisan techniques including curries, noodle dishes, salads, soups, grilled items, and street-food style offerings.
- Ensure consistency in taste, portioning, plating, and food quality across all menu items.
- Monitor cooking times, temperatures, and ingredient quality to maintain excellence.
- Handle preparation of specialty sauces, spice blends, broths, marinades, and condiments unique to Burmese cuisine.
- Lead and supervise kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Oversee daily kitchen activities, including food safety, hygiene, and quality control.
- Manage inventory, food costing, and ordering supplies as needed.
- Develop and contribute to menu innovation while maintaining authentic flavors.
- Train and mentor team members to build a strong and positive kitchen culture.
Qualifications:
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years
- Effective supervising and training skills and attention to detail
Terms of employment: Permanent, Full time (40 hours/week)
Compensation: $ 36.50/hour
