Job Description
We are currently looking for a skilled and dependable Hardwood Floor Covering Installer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing and preparing a variety of floor coverings in residential and commercial settings. The role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work efficiently at different job locations.
The ideal applicant should have experience with hardwood flooring, carpeting, resilient floor coverings, and floor preparation techniques while maintaining high-quality workmanship and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine, inspect, and measure surfaces to determine flooring installation requirements
- Measure and mark floor areas accurately prior to installation
- Prepare subfloors and perform floor preparation work before installation activities
- Install hardwood flooring, including strip, plank, and block floors, using glue, nails, staples, or other fastening methods
- Cut, fit, and secure hardwood flooring materials according to layout specifications
- Measure, cut, and install underlay and underpadding materials as required
- Install carpets and resilient floor coverings using adhesives, rollers, and specialized hand tools
- Use knee kickers and power stretchers to secure carpeting where required
- Remove existing flooring materials, debris, and surface contaminants before installation
- Inspect completed flooring installations and perform minor repairs or corrective adjustments where required
- Ensure flooring installations meet quality and workplace safety standards
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition
- May estimate material quantities and labour requirements for flooring projects
Employment Requirements
· Secondary (high) school graduation certificate preferred
· Minimum 1 year to less than 2 years of related flooring installation experience
· Ability to perform physically demanding work in construction environments
· Knowledge of flooring materials, installation methods, and related tools
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
· Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious

· Residential and commercial worksites
· On-site work only; remote work is not available
Work Conditions & Physical Demands
· Physically demanding work involving bending, kneeling, lifting, and standing for extended periods
· Repetitive tasks using flooring installation equipment and hand tools
· Work may involve dusty and noisy construction environments
· Ability to handle flooring materials and equipment safely
Work Schedule
· Full-time hours (40 hours per week)
· Day shifts with occasional overtime depending on project requirements
