Job Description
We are currently looking for a skilled and dependable Hardwood Floor Covering Installer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing and preparing a variety of floor coverings in residential and commercial settings. The role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work efficiently at different job locations.
The ideal applicant should have experience with hardwood flooring, carpeting, resilient floor coverings, and floor preparation techniques while maintaining high-quality workmanship and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Examine and assess surfaces to determine installation requirements
· Measure and mark floor areas accurately before installation work begins
· Cut, fit, and secure underlay and underpadding materials
· Measure, trim, and install carpets on floors according to specifications
· Install resilient floor coverings with precision and proper alignment
· Prepare and install hardwood flooring in residential and commercial properties
· Perform floor preparation work prior to installation activities
· Remove old flooring materials, debris, and surface contaminants
· Use knee kickers and specialized tools to properly stretch carpeting
· Carry out direct glue-down carpet installation procedures
· Complete double-bond carpet installation projects as required
· Install resilient stair components, including special safety features for visually impaired individuals
· Ensure flooring installations meet quality and safety standards
· Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized condition
Employment Requirements
· Secondary (high) school graduation certificate preferred
· Minimum 1 year to less than 2 years of related flooring installation experience
· Ability to perform physically demanding work in construction environments
· Knowledge of flooring materials, installation methods, and related tools
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
· Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
Work Setting
· Various job locations
· Residential and commercial worksites
· On-site work only; remote work is not available
Work Conditions & Physical Demands
· Physically demanding work involving bending, kneeling, lifting, and standing for extended periods
· Repetitive tasks using flooring installation equipment and hand tools
· Work may involve dusty and noisy construction environments
· Ability to handle flooring materials and equipment safely
Work Schedule
· Full-time hours (40 hours per week)
· Day shifts with occasional overtime depending on project requirements
· Permanent employment position
