Part-time teacher - Nursing (Fall 2026) (Clinical Instructor)
The College is seeking a part-time professor (Clinical Instructor) to teach credited courses (clinical) within the Nursing program in the Fall 2026.
180-A36-HR Pediatric Nursing
This course is delivered in an accelerated format over the last nine (9) weeks of the term. This course introduces fundamental nursing concepts essential for caring for children and families in pediatric hospital and community settings. Students will develop an understanding of growth and developmental milestones, lifestyle factors, pathologies, and nursing considerations related to pediatric patients in a multicultural society. Special emphasis is placed on mastering pediatric medication calculations, particularly weight-based dosing, to ensure safe and accurate medication administration for children. Ethical principles, patient rights and responsibilities, interdisciplinary collaboration, and social involvement are explored within the context of pediatric nursing. In laboratory and clinical settings, students apply their knowledge and skills to address patients' priority health concerns. High-fidelity simulation and virtual reality are integrated to enhance clinical decision-making skills, allowing students to engage in realistic, immersive learning experiences.

The stage component of the contract is offered at either CHEO (Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario) or CISSSO (Centre intégré de santé et des services sociaux de l'Outaouais).
Mondays (9 shifts) and Tuesdays (4 shifts) day/evening rotation; October 12th to December 7th, 2026, with availability to the College as of August 17th, 2026, for meetings and Hospital orientation. 7.5 hours per day.
SALARY RANGE
$57,484.00 - $110,711.00
DESCRIPTION:
The Heritage College Nursing Program provides a part-time, three-year RN competency-based diploma program. Given that nursing is a practice-based profession, we believe that clinical experience is a vital and integral component of the curriculum, providing students with hands-on opportunities to practice their nursing skills under direct supervision of their clinical instructor. The clinical instructor supports student learning, liaises with assigned nurses in a clinical unit and collaborates with the Faculty Team Leader. The clinical instructor role is an essential and powerful component of nursing education.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Attend clinical instructor and student hospital orientation for all positions.
Attend and assist students with skills lab when clinical groups are in a Lab environment or using the Simulation Lab.
Support student learning:
• Select appropriate patient assignment as per clinical pedagogy.
• Direct supervision and monitor student performance in clinical setting;
• organize pre-post conferences online;
• Review and offer weekly written and verbal feedback of student learning objectives;
• Review and discuss student midterm self-assessments;
• Assess student progress and complete final student evaluations;
• Ensure completion of student clinical assignments and assess competency as per rubric within the given time frame. Liaise with faculty to ensure coherence across class;
• Conduct midterm and final evaluation with students.
Collaborate with course faculty: ensure ongoing communication with course team leader.
Attend weekly student progress meetings online.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, and several years of teaching experience at the university or college level is preferred.
A minimum of 3 years of Pediatric Nursing.
Fluency in English , both oral and written is required.
Knowledge of software as per program requirements is necessary.
Must be a member of the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Hold an OIIQ (Ordre des infirmiers et infirmières du Québec) license for all Québec placements.
Experience in pediatric nursing at CHEO is required to be eligible for a placement at CHEO.
