Dump truck driver

Job duties:

– Drive and operate heavy dump trucks, to transport loose waste materials, debris, or materials to landfills, transfer stations, or material recovery facilities

– Perform mandatory inspections of vehicle systems, equipment, and accessories — including tires, lights, brakes, and hydraulic dumping mechanisms

– Manage the loading/unloading of waste materials and ensure the load is properly secured according to safety regulations

– Navigate set routes to pick up commercial or residential waste, adjusting for traffic conditions

– Communicate with dispatchers, and maintain accurate logs of cargo information, hours of service, and distance traveled

– Lubricate, refuel, and perform minor emergency repairs on the vehicle, report major malfunctions to supervisors

– Perform brake adjustments

Education requirements – Secondary School Diploma

Work experience required – Minimum 1 year 

License required – Class 3 driver’s license with an air brake endorsement in BC
