Nature of position:      Permanent, full-time (40 hours per week)

 

Wage:                          $37.00 per hour. A bonus may be paid from time-to-time, at the sole discretion of the employer.

 

Vacation:                     10 days

 

Language required:     English, spoken and written

JOB DUTIES. The following duties will be performed in this position:

 

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
  • Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware
  • Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, industrial plants and other establishments
  • Supervise apprentices and other construction workers, manage schedule
  • May prepare cost estimates for clients and ad hoc duties as needed

 

REQUIREMENTS. The successful applicant will possess, at a minimum, the following skills and experience:

 

  • Completion of secondary school. 
  • Two (2) years of experience in concrete forms carpentry or relevant experience.
  • Safety and flagging certification an asset
  • Permit to operate equipment ie. forklift, bobcat etc.
  • Experience with concrete pours and rebar installation
