Roofer Foreman (NOC 72014) - Hamilton

Flynn Canada Ltd. is currently recruiting skilled Roofing Foreman (commercial) to fill 2 vacancies in the Hamilton and surrounding area (890 Arvin Ave., Stoney Creek, ON L8E 5Y8).

Responsibilities Include:
• Recommend appropriate building, construction materials and roofing metal products
• Ensure construction plans meet guidelines and specifications of building codes and regulations
• Supervise with the installation of commercial and industrial Roofing applications (including Conventional 4 ply/built up roofing systems using asphalt saturated felts, hot asphalt and gravel; Modified Bitumen (Mod-bit) roofing; single ply roofing systems, using waterproof sheet materials such as modified plastics or asphalt compositions)
• Oversee assigned crews and ensure that they work in accordance with safety policies
• Ensure all on site personnel comply with project procedures, work and equipment maintenance rules
• Document all violations, implements and recommends corrective actions
• Act as company liaison to job superintendents and work crews
• Communicate all aspects of job status (i.e. extras, schedule delays, etc. with superintendents and project manager)
• Follow-up with on-site problems with area superintendents and field operations manager
• Obtain monthly man hour forecast from area supervisor and prepare man hour backlog report
• Provide training to more junior level workers

Qualifications Required:
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Roofer in commercial Roofing OR completion of a 2 + year apprenticeship program (journeyman) or equivalent
• Previous experience in Foreman/woman role is preferred
• Completion of secondary school diploma OR equivalent is preferred
• Intermediate English or French skills
• This is a unionized position; if hired, all candidates will be required to become a member (if not already)

Terms and Employment:
• Permanent full time at 30-40 hours a week. Overtime on Saturday and after 44 hours a week at the rate of 1.5x and double time on Sundays and holidays;
• $57.45 per hour, depending on qualifications as well as the collective bargaining agreement;
• Benefits as per the collective bargaining agreement;
• 4% vacation on all earnings, 6.5% stat holiday pay on all earnings except for vacation pay
