Responsibilities
Tasks

Assist senior mechanic/supervisor in inspecting vehicles and mechanical units to identify faults or
malfunctions

Discuss inspection findings with the supervisor and assist in deciding whether parts need repair
or replacement

Help inspect motors and automotive systems while in operation

Assist in reviewing work orders and job instructions

Support road testing of motor vehicles under supervision

Assist in testing automotive systems and components

Help adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of automotive systems as directed

Assist in repairing or replacing mechanical units or components

Support testing and adjusting repaired systems according to manufacturer specifications

Assist in estimating parts and labour required for vehicle maintenance and repairs

Help perform scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, inspections, and basic
servicing

Assist in testing and adjusting units to meet required specifications

Support the supervisor in explaining completed work and future repair needs to customers

Help complete service reports and records of work performed

Provide basic customer service and maintain a clean and safe work area
