2 D WAY Foods Inc. is a Japanese food and beverage distributor serving 400+ restaurants, grocers, and liquor stores across Greater BC. The job role is a dual headed duty, comprising of the both purchasing and Logistic management, as a result of this logistic experience will be highly regarded as a plus. D Way Foods Inc. is currently looking for a permanent and full-time Purchasing Manager.
Core Duties
• Plan, coordinator, and monitor all activities relating to the purchasing function to ensure optimized purchasing process.
• Source, and evaluate suppliers, considering the cost, quality, shipping and delivery timeline.
• Ensure high standard quality control standards in the importations of goods.
• Analyze, and evaluate, as well as settle claims and discrepancies with the customers and suppliers in the shortest time possible.
• Ultimately be responsible for the recruiting, training and supervision of personnel for continuously increasing the standards of performance.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Manage transportation activities, including coordinating with carriers and utilizing transportation management systems to optimize efficiency.
• Coordinate freight and package shipments, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effective transportation options.
• Track and manage import shipments as well as distribution freight logistics
• Negotiate Trucking, Freight and Warehouse rates for various locations
• Handling day-to-day import/export, ocean shipments pertaining to Freight Forwarder functionalities.
• Coordination with freight forwarders, shippers, warehouses, truckers, steamship lines and all other functional means as required.
• Resolve issues related to customer inquiries, data input and general customer service related to tracking & tracing.
• Communicate dispatch information and help answer customer inquiries
• Perform all other duties as assigned
• Manage the escalation process for service failures to ensure corrective actions are in place
• Direct shipments: Oversee and coordinate direct shipments from factories to customers, ensuring smooth execution and minimal disruptions.
Skills, Education, Experiences, Knowledge:
• Completion of bachelor's degree or college diploma
• Several years of experience as a purchasing agent or officer
• Knowledge of supply chain management and distribution chain
• Knowledge of transportation modes (Sea, Air, Road freight, Parcel)
• Fluent in English – verbal and in writing
• Computer skills: Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of Incoterms and Customs processes
• Knowledge in process management

• Good communication - verbal and in writing
• Attention to details and ability to check and report factual & reliable information

Compensation:
$50.00/hour, 4% Vacation Pay, Extended Benefit (medical & dental)
