Pharmacy Assistant

Assist with pharmaceutical dispensing and compounding of prescription medications. Follow compounding regulations set by the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities ( NAPRA ) for non-sterile pharmaceutical compounding. A strong interest and skills in mathematics and chemistry is recommended. Must be able to work independantly and in a team environment under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Previous experience in pharmacy compounding considered to be a strong asset. Strong motivation to work with other team members and the public in a fast paced retail environment. Time organisation to ensure work flow is smooth and reliable production of pharmaceutical compounds. 

Follow all federal and Provincial regulations pertaining to pharmaceutical dispensing and medication compounding. 

Communicate with other healthcare professionals in person and over the telephone. 

Provide exceptional customer service

Other skills include: preparation of prescription medication, labelling, checking, blister packaging medication. Telephone skills, verbal communication in person and over the phone important skills. 

Accuracy is essential and teaching new staff members compounding skills, good compounding practices important part of job.
