Wage:                          $28.00/hour

Vacation:                     4% in lieu of paid vacation

JOB DUTIES. The following duties will be performed in this position:

• Supervise and care for children in the employer’s residence.
• Bathe, dress, and feed children.
• Plan, prepare, and serve meals for children.
• Perform other housekeeping duties related to children and light household tasks.
• Collaborate with employer to oversee children’s activities, such as meals, rest periods, and group activities.
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home.
• Instruct children in personal hygiene.
• Tend to the emotional well-being of children and support their social development using a “gentle parenting” approach.
• Discipline children according to the methods requested by the employer.
• Provide age-appropriate educational training through organized activities such as games, crafts, reading, and outings.
• Provide instruction in spelling, reading, math, and school preparation, as per the BC guidelines for kindergarten readiness. 
• Keep records of daily activities and health information regarding each child, and provide photos to employer at the end of the day.

REQUIREMENTS. The successful applicant will possess, at a minimum, the following skills and experience:

• Completion of secondary school.
• Completion of a training program in childcare or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience (full-time or equivalent) as a caregiver in a private household.
• Experience working as a caregiver in a household with multiple children under 10 years old.
• Non-caregiving experience with children in an educational and/or clinic environment is preferred.
• Criminal record check.
• First Aid & CPR certification preferred.
• Food safety certification preferred.
• Flexibility and willingness to work longer hours at the Employer’s discretion.
