About the Role

The Big Moustache Barbershop is seeking an experienced and skilled Barber to join our professional team in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The successful candidate will provide high-quality grooming services while delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform advanced barbering services including precision hair cutting, tapering, fading, beard sculpting, and traditional straight-razor shaves based on individual client needs
• Analyze hair and scalp conditions and recommend appropriate grooming, styling, and treatment solutions
• Apply advanced hair colouring techniques including bleaching, tinting, highlights, and corrective colour treatments where required
• Provide professional consultation to clients on hairstyles, grooming routines, hair care products, and overall personal appearance
• Ensure consistent service quality by following established grooming standards, hygiene protocols, and workplace safety practices
• Assist in training, mentoring, and supervising junior barbers, apprentices, or students in accordance with salon standards
• Support day-to-day operational efficiency by managing appointments, coordinating workflow, and assisting with staff scheduling as needed
• Monitor inventory levels, recommend supply orders, and ensure proper use and maintenance of barbering tools and equipment
• Build and maintain long-term client relationships through high-quality service delivery and customer retention practices
• Contribute to the shop’s reputation and business growth by maintaining professionalism, reliability, and service excellence

Qualifications & Requirements

• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
• 1 to less than 2 years of relevant experience as a barber or hairstylist
• Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Client-focused and professional attitude
• Ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime as required
• Criminal record check may be required

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly Wage: $19.00 – $20.00 (negotiable based on experience)
