WANTED: ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN (LEVEL 2)

 

Employer: Breka Bakery & Cafe Inc.

Position: Accounting Technician (Level 2)

Employment Type: Permanent/Full-time

Number of Opening: 1

 

Work Location: #101 - 8811 Laurel Street, Vancouver, BC V6P 3V9

Wage: $36.60 per hour

Hours: 40 hours per week

 

Job duties:

  • Maintain accurate monthly accounting records, general ledgers, trial balances, and prepare interim and financial statements.
  • Post journal entries and perform daily, monthly, and periodic reconciliations for bank, cash, credit cards, accounts receivable, and accounts payable etc.
  • Prepare and reconcile GST/HST and PST returns, ensuring compliance with applicable Canadian tax regulations.
  • Process and code accounts payable, credit card expenses, vendor payments, and monitor and reconcile accounts receivable.
  • Maintain amortization schedules, review capital expenditures, and reconcile capital leases and loan accounts.
  • Prepare monthly store performance reports, quarterly financial statements, and analyze financial data to support business operations.
  • Assist with the implementation, configuration, and ongoing use of accounting software; provide training and support to accounting staff.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments and external parties to address financial inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and support year-end financial close.
    • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of working papers and schedules for internal review and external auditors.
    • Support audit and review engagements by responding to auditor inquiries and preparing requested documentation.
    • Assist in cash flow monitoring, including tracking inflows/outflows and supporting short-term cash planning.
    • Participate in or lead meetings related to accounting matters, if needed.
    • May perform or plan training for a new hired staff within the accounting team.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Language: English
  • Education: Completion of secondary education is required.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3 years of experience as a financial or accounting clerk are required or
    • 1-2 years of experience as a financial or accounting clerk who complete post-secondary education in relevant fields such as accounting, finance, and other related programs.
    • Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
