Job Description

Fort Nelson IGA located at 4823 50th Ave S, Fort Nelson, BC V0C 1R0, is seeking a reliable and motivated Assistant Butcher to join our supermarket meat department. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced, cold/refrigerated environment and assist with the preparation, cutting, packaging, and display of meat, poultry, and seafood products.

 

Key Duties

  • Clean, cut, trim, and prepare standard and special cuts of meat
  • Cut carcasses, sides, quarters, poultry, fish, and shellfish
  • Remove bones, slice cooked meats, and prepare specialty displays
  • Wrap, package, weigh, and price meat products
  • Operate meat processing equipment (e.g. slicing machines, grinders)
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the work area

 

Requirements

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 7 months to less than 1 year of relevant experience
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Physically able to stand for extended periods
  • Strong attention to detail and reliability
