Full-time, Permanent position - 3-5 years of experience in the food service industry, including supervisory or management experience. Wages: $40.00–$45.00 per hour, 32.5–36 hours per week - 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., 6 days per week.
Position Summary
The Bakery Store Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating the operations of a Portuguese bakery and restaurant/café. This is a management-focused role overseeing production, staff, quality standards, inventory, and financial performance. The position requires expert knowledge of Portuguese bread and pastry products to effectively supervise production staff, ensure authenticity, and maintain consistent quality.
Main Duties and Responsibilities. Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate all bakery and café operations. Supervise and coordinate the activities of bakery production staff, counter staff, and supervisors. Establish staff work schedules, assign duties, and monitor performance. Train, evaluate, and discipline employees in accordance with company policies. Oversee production planning and output levels for retail and wholesale operations without routinely performing hands-on baking duties. Ensure consistent quality, presentation, flavour, and texture of baked goods through supervision and quality control systems. Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and standards to improve efficiency and profitability. Monitor inventory levels, order ingredients and supplies, and negotiate with vendors as needed. Control food, labour, and operating costs; analyze sales and implement cost-control measures. Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and food handling regulations. Respond to customer feedback and resolve operational or service issues. Develop new product offerings and seasonal menus in collaboration with senior baking staff. In-depth knowledge of Portuguese bread and pastry products to supervise and evaluate production quality.
