Position Overview – Automotive Service Technician

Everest West Services Inc., operating as Mr. Lube + Tires, is currently seeking an Automotive Service Technician for our Vancouver, BC location at 1291 East Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC V6A 1S4. The Automotive Service Technician is responsible for performing routine vehicle maintenance, light mechanical services, inspections, and customer-focused automotive care in a fast-paced service environment. This role involves working hands-on with vehicles to complete oil and fluid changes, brake servicing, tire services, inspections, and other approved maintenance tasks while following manufacturer specifications and company standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and comfortable working as part of a team. This position requires clear communication with supervisors and customers, a strong commitment to quality workmanship, and a customer-first mindset. Position: Automotive Service Technician

Responsibilities

  • Review work orders and service requests and discuss vehicle concerns, inspection findings, and required services with the supervisor prior to commencing work.
  • Perform manufacturer recommended preventive maintenance services, including oil and filter changes, lubrications, and routine vehicle inspections.
  • Inspect vehicles and perform courtesy checks, including checking and topping up fluid levels, inspecting tire pressure, cleaning windows, and identifying visible wear or concerns.
  • Replace essential automotive fluids such as engine oil, coolant, transmission fluid, differential fluid, and transfer case fluid in accordance with vehicle specifications.
  • Replace and service under-the-hood and exterior components, including air filters, cabin filters, wiper blades, headlights, taillights, batteries, and related consumable parts.
  • Perform brake servicing, tire installation, balancing, and other light mechanical repairs as per company procedures and safety standards.
  • Use approved tools and equipment to inspect, adjust, repair, or replace components of automotive systems, including brakes, steering and suspension, cooling systems, exhaust components, and basic electrical systems.
  • Apply approved performance enhancing products and treatments, such as engine oil treatments, fuel system cleaners, valve cleaners, and stop-leak solutions, where appropriate.
  • Conduct operational checks and testing following service or repair to ensure vehicle systems function properly and meet manufacturer performance standards.
  • Confirm inspection findings with the supervisor to determine whether repair or replacement of components is required.
  • Accurately complete service documentation and reports detailing inspections performed, services provided, and parts replaced.
  • Clearly explain completed work, vehicle condition, and recommend future maintenance to customers in a professional and customer-focused manner.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area and comply with all workplace safety, environmental, and company policies.
  • Provide courteous, efficient, and reliable customer service consistent with company’s service standards.

 

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Completion of secondary school.
  • Completion of relevant automotive education, trade training, or post-secondary coursework OR a minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant hands-on experience in automotive maintenance or light mechanical repair.
  • Practical knowledge of routine vehicle maintenance, including oil and fluid changes, brake servicing, tire installation and balancing, and basic mechanical repairs.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and standard automotive service equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow manufacturer specifications and workplace safety procedures.
  • Good communication skills to interact professionally with supervisors, team members, and customers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced service environment and perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for extended periods and lifting automotive components.
