Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

Number of Vacancies: 1

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full-time (30 hours per week)

Language of Work: English

Wage: $30.00 per hour for 3 years, plus overtime pay as per provincial regulations.

Benefits: Extended health and dental insurance after 6 months of continuous employment; paid vacation as per Nova Scotia Labour Standards.

Location of Work: Various sites within Lower Sackville and surrounding areas in Nova Scotia.

• Operate excavators and similar heavy equipment to grade, level, and prepare land for residential and commercial landscaping projects
• Clear work areas of rocks, stumps, brush, and other debris prior to landscaping or hardscaping installation
• Work with landscaping designers and crews to achieve proper grading for planting, turf installation, and construction of outdoor features
• Perform pre-operational equipment checks, ensure proper lubrication, refueling, and cleaning of machinery
• Assist in seasonal projects, including spring clean-ups, fall preparations, and large-scale site renovations
• Follow all company and provincial safety protocols when operating heavy machinery

Skills Requirements:

• Education: Completion of secondary school
• At least 6 months experience in operating heavy equipment, preferably in landscaping, site preparation, or property maintenance
• Licences/Certificates: Valid driver’s licence (Class 5); heavy equipment operator certification
• Other Requirements: Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions; strong safety awareness; good teamwork and communication skills
