Salary: $100K-115K (negotiable based on experience)

Hours per week: 40
Location: Location: 5643 Taghum Frontage Rd., Nelson, BC V1L 6Y2 (on-site)

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Take full ownership of the Pre-Construction Phase including bid-build, design-build, and construction management for designated projects
  • Review RFPs, drawings, and specifications to develop detailed cost estimates
  • Perform accurate quantity takeoffs using DESTINI Estimator (or similar software) for all scopes of work, including those performed by subcontractors, and accurately compile takeoffs for self-performed tasks. A solid grasp of carpentry labor and typical equipment productivity will be highly advantageous
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documents to prepare accurate cost estimates
  • You will be responsible for soliciting and rigorously reviewing subcontractor and supplier quotations for completeness, while actively cultivating and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with both current and prospective partners.
  • Identify project discrepancies and value engineering opportunities
  • Prepare preliminary schedules and support project planning efforts
  • Attend project and site meetings when needed
  • Assist with change order pricing and project handovers to the operations team
  • Proactively develop and refine pre-construction workflows and estimate tools, taking the lead in creating and enhancing internal worksheets and templates to streamline processes.
  • Contribute your analytical expertise to evaluate existing strategies and implement innovative approaches that ensure our bids are consistently competitive and delivered on schedule
  • Actively build and nurture strong, collaborative relationships with our valued network of clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to our long-term success by maintaining historical cost data and improve internal estimating tools and workflows

What You Bring to the Role

  • Minimum 5 years of estimating experience specifically in residential and commercial construction
  • Post-secondary education in Construction Estimating, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field — or equivalent experience
  • Hands-on knowledge of construction methods, trades, and procurement practices
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and confident in pricing projects up to and beyond $50M
  • Strong communicator with the ability to build rapport with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants
  • Proficient with estimating and construction software including DESTINI Estimator, Bluebeam, Excel, Smartsheet (Spectrum software knowledge is an asset)
  • Thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with evolving priorities
  • Want to be part of a values-driven company that prioritizes quality, people, and impact
