Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the activities and operations of the engineering department in Calgary, Alberta including but not limited to personnel recruitment & development, assign, coordinate and review technical work of the department & project teams and develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the office and across the company.
  • Responsible for development of CES Modular design services in both North America and Globally, with both sustainability and modularisation of MEP systems being a major driver in its development including Design for manufacturing assemblies.
  • Develop strong relationships with Modern Methods of Construction suppliers & developers across North America and Globally to allow us to leverage our knowledge learnt across a whole range of challenges and increase number of modular projects.
  • Be instrumental in the promotion and development of Modern Methods of Construction techniques in building services to allow CES to aid in housing shortfalls and advise developers and local authorities alike, both in North America and Globally.
  • Consult and negotiate with clients to prepare specifications, explain proposals and present engineering reports and findings as well as development of new clients.

 

 

Required experience:

  • Experience of design & management of modular projects, Modern Methods of Construction and Design for manufacturing assemblies techniques internationally.
  • Working technical knowledge of Modern Methods of Construction and Design for manufacturing assemblies and Modular techniques, including full volumetric, panelized and structurally insulated panels (SIPs) utilising including both steel and timber materials.
  • Experience internationally of design & management of building services (MEP) in various sectors, such as residential, hotels & leisure etc.
  • Experience of sustainable engineering methods including development of Net Zero buildings with an understanding of international codes & standards including but not limited to LEED, BREEAM etc.
  • Business planning/strategy/growth.
  • Business development, employee engagement, major client management.
  • Experience and responsibility of day to day business operations including P&L.

 

Work site environment: Office based with site/client visits nationally & internationally as/where required. Estimated no more than 30 days annually outside of country.
